Replacing a factory radio is the quickest and most visible upgrade you can do to an older vehicle. Our techs install single-DIN, double-DIN, 9-inch floating-display, and stock-look OEM-fit head units in nearly any year/make/model on the road today. Every install starts with a vehicle-specific dash kit so the new head unit sits flush in the dash, and a model-specific T-harness adapter so your factory wiring stays untouched and reversible if you ever decide to put the original radio back. Steering-wheel controls, hands-free Bluetooth, factory backup cameras, satellite radio antennas, and premium audio systems all get retained or properly bridged through interface modules. We carry Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, Kicker, and Boss Audio head units, and we'll match the unit to your dash size, your daily-driving habits, and your budget. If you want to keep the factory radio look, we'll spec a stock-look OEM-fit upgrade that drops into the factory dash position so cleanly that nobody can spot it. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, dual USB-C charging, dual-cam input for backup-and-dashcam combo wiring, HD radio, SiriusXM, Spotify, and full voice-command support are all standard features on the modern head units we install. Most installs take 1–3 hours depending on vehicle complexity. Lifetime workmanship warranty on every install. **What's included:** - Vehicle-specific dash kits - T-harness adapters (factory wiring stays clean) - Steering-wheel control retention - Apple CarPlay / Android Auto compatible units in stock - Stock-look OEM-fit options **FAQ:** - **Q: Will my steering wheel buttons still work?** A: On most vehicles, yes. We use a steering-wheel-control interface that retains volume, track, and voice-command buttons. - **Q: Can you keep my factory radio?** A: If you want to keep the look, we offer stock-look OEM-fit upgrades that drop into the factory dash position. - **Q: How long does a typical install take?** A: 1 to 3 hours for most vehicles. Some older or harder-to-access dashes take longer; we'll give you a time estimate when you book. ## Car Speaker Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/car-speaker-installation Category: audio Short: Component sets, coaxials, tweeters, and door-speaker upgrades. Factory speakers are the easiest performance bottleneck to fix. After a few years of daily driving, factory paper cones get tired, surrounds dry out, and clarity drops noticeably even on stock head-unit power. Our techs install direct-fit replacement coaxials, full component sets with separate tweeters and crossovers, and aftermarket adapter rings where the new speakers don't bolt directly into the factory location. Every install includes proper baffle prep, butyl-rope ring sealing, weatherproof terminal connections, and an optional sound-deadening upgrade on the inner door skin to dramatically tighten the bass response of front-stage speakers. We also handle tweeter relocation when the factory tweeter pod is in a poor position, moving them to A-pillar or sail-panel pods often fixes a thin, off-axis sound stage that no speaker swap alone can fix. Common sizes we stock include 6.5", 6×9", 5.25", 4", and pillar-mount tweeters. We sell and install Kicker, Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, JBL, Boss Audio, Sony, and Memphis Audio components, picked to your budget and the music you actually listen to. Most 4-speaker swaps take 2 to 3 hours. Lifetime workmanship on every install, bring the vehicle back if anything goes wrong, and we'll fix it. **What's included:** - 6.5", 6×9", 5.25" sizes, most factory locations - Component sets with separate tweeters - Sound deadening on doors (optional) - Lifetime workmanship on every install **FAQ:** - **Q: Do I need to add an amp to upgrade speakers?** A: Not always. Many speakers are designed to work with factory radio power, we'll tell you upfront whether amping is worth it for your setup. - **Q: How long does a 4-speaker install take?** A: Typically a couple of hours for a daily driver. Older vehicles or models with hidden speakers can take longer. - **Q: Can you do sound deadening too?** A: Yes, door deadening is a popular add-on with speaker upgrades and dramatically tightens bass response. Quoted separately at install time. ## Subwoofer Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/subwoofer-installation Category: audio Short: Single subs, dual-sub setups, and custom enclosures. Bass is the most-requested upgrade in our shop, and there's a wide spectrum of options. We install 8", 10", 12", and 15" subwoofers in pre-fab sealed and ported enclosures, custom-fab boxes designed for your specific trunk, slim under-seat models for trucks where cargo space matters, dual-sub setups for SPL builds, and stealth-style enclosures that hide behind seats or in spare-tire wells. Every sub install includes proper power-wire routing through the firewall to the battery, a fused distribution block within 18 inches of the battery, big-3 alternator wiring upgrades on high-power builds, and gain-matched amp tuning so your bass actually hits without rattling the dash apart or distorting at high volumes. We tune by ear and by meter, set the low-pass crossover correctly for the box, and check phase between sub and front-stage speakers. We carry Kicker, Alpine, Boss Audio, Memphis Audio, and Sundown Audio subs and can spec a setup from a clean daily-driver thump to a full SPL competition build. Common subwoofer-and-amp combo installs take 3 to 4 hours; full custom-fab builds run 1 to 3 days depending on complexity. Lifetime workmanship on every sub build, even on customer-supplied gear. **What's included:** - 8", 10", 12", 15" subwoofers - Pre-fab and custom enclosures - Slim under-seat options for trucks - Big-3 alternator wiring upgrade for high-power builds **FAQ:** - **Q: Can I keep my trunk space?** A: Yes, we offer slim, sealed, and trunk-saver designs. Tell us how much space you want to keep and we'll spec to fit. - **Q: Do I need a separate amp?** A: Subwoofers always need an amplifier, we'll bundle one into the quote so you have everything you need. - **Q: Will it rattle the dashboard?** A: Not when it's tuned correctly. We set crossovers and gains so bass stays tight and the dash stays quiet at every volume level. ## Amplifier Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/amplifier-installation Category: audio Short: Mono, 4-channel, and full-range amps installed and tuned. An amplifier is what makes aftermarket speakers actually breathe. Stock head-unit amplifiers typically deliver around 18 watts RMS per channel, enough for daily-driver volume, but well below what good aftermarket components are designed to receive. Our techs install mono subwoofer amplifiers, 4-channel speaker amps, 5-channel hybrids that drive front speakers and a sub from one chassis, and dedicated DSP-controlled amplifiers for builds where signal processing matters. Every install includes correct-gauge power wire (0/4/8 AWG depending on amp draw) routed cleanly through the firewall, an in-line fuse holder within 18 inches of the battery for safety, ground-loop isolators on factory radios to kill alternator whine, RCA shielding to prevent ignition noise, and final gain-matching using calibration tones and a multimeter. Gains are set with the speakers' RMS rating in mind so the amp runs in its clean range and the system has real headroom. Class-D efficient mono amps start around 500 watts RMS for daily-driver bass; 4-channel amps for full-range speaker upgrades start around 75 watts per channel. Lifetime workmanship warranty on every amp install. **What's included:** - 0/4/8 AWG power wire to spec - In-line fuse holder within 18" of battery - Ground-loop isolators on factory radios - Gain-matching with calibration tones **FAQ:** - **Q: Why does my factory radio whine when I add an amp?** A: It's almost always a ground-loop or grounding issue. We use isolators and clean grounds during install, that's the fix. - **Q: What size amp do I need?** A: Match RMS power to your speakers' RMS rating, with a little headroom. We'll size it correctly during quote. - **Q: Will an amp drain my battery?** A: Properly sized to your alternator output, no. On high-power builds we recommend a Big-3 wiring upgrade, which we install along with the amp. ## Apple CarPlay & Android Auto URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/apple-carplay-android-auto Category: audio Short: Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto retrofit for almost any vehicle. Add wireless Apple CarPlay or wireless Android Auto to your daily driver, even if your vehicle never came with it from the factory. We install three flavors of CarPlay retrofit. Aftermarket touchscreens drop into the dash on any 2010+ vehicle and bring full CarPlay/Android Auto plus Bluetooth, USB, satellite-radio support, and dual-cam input. Stock-look OEM-fit head units replace your factory radio while keeping the factory dash appearance, you'd never know it wasn't original. Integration modules add wireless CarPlay to existing factory radios on supported vehicles (most 2014+ Toyota, Honda, Ford, GM, Hyundai, Mazda, and many luxury makes) without changing the dash at all, fully reversible, factory warranty stays intact. Every install includes wireless Apple CarPlay (no cable required after first pairing), wireless Android Auto on modern units, full steering-wheel-control retention, factory backup-camera passthrough, factory premium-audio passthrough on supported cars, dual USB-C charging, and Bluetooth audio streaming with HD codec support. Lifetime workmanship warranty. **What's included:** - Wireless CarPlay + Android Auto in every install - Stock-look OEM-fit options on most vehicles 2010+ - Backup-camera input ready - Premium-audio-system passthrough on supported cars **FAQ:** - **Q: Do I have to plug in my phone?** A: No, every CarPlay head unit we install supports wireless connection. First pairing only takes a minute. - **Q: Will it work with my factory amp?** A: On most vehicles, yes. We use line-output converters or factory-amp interfaces to keep your premium audio working. - **Q: Can you keep my factory radio's look?** A: Yes, we offer stock-look OEM-fit head units that drop into the factory dash position. From outside, the dash looks original. ## Custom Audio Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/custom-audio-installation Category: audio Short: Custom enclosures, amp racks, false floors, and full builds. When off-the-shelf parts won't fit or won't sound right, we build it. Custom subwoofer enclosures sized for your exact trunk and tuned for your specific sub model. Fiberglass amp racks shaped to fit complex spaces. False floors with concealed wiring and pop-up access panels. Stealth panels that hide subs in spare-tire wells, behind seat backs, or in cargo-area side panels. Full custom trunks with multiple subs and lighting take a few days. We'll give you a timeline at quote. - **Q: Can I see other builds before I commit?** A: Yes, visit the shop and we'll walk you through past builds and pull photos of similar vehicles. - **Q: Will the enclosure fit my specific trunk?** A: That's the whole point of custom. We measure your trunk, design around it, and build to spec. ## Car Alarm Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/car-alarm-installation Category: security Short: Sirens, shock sensors, tilt sensors, and 2-way confirming alarms. A modern car alarm is more than a siren. We install full vehicle security systems with shock sensors that detect impacts (broken glass, body taps), tilt sensors that detect tow-truck loading, hood pin switches that detect engine-bay access, glass-break detection mics, door/trunk pin switches, and 2-way LCD remotes that confirm exactly which sensor was triggered, useful for catching a tow-truck operator before your car gets to the impound lot. Smartphone-control add-on modules (DroneMobile, Viper SmartStart) let you lock, unlock, locate, and check vehicle status from anywhere with cell service, and most include GPS tracking with geofence alerts so you get a push notification if the vehicle moves outside a defined zone. We install Compustar, Viper, and Avital systems for daily drivers, fleet vehicles, classic cars, motorcycles, and high-value vehicles. Sensitivity tuning during install is dialed in to your specific parking situation so daily street rumble doesn't trigger the alarm. Combine with our remote start service for one integrated system. Adjustments are also possible later if your parking conditions change. - **Q: Can I lock the car from my phone?** A: Yes, with the smartphone module. Lock, unlock, status check, and panic from anywhere with a cell signal. - **Q: Will it work on my push-to-start vehicle?** A: Yes. Push-to-start vehicles need a bypass module, which we include in those installs. ## Remote Start Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/remote-start-installation Category: security Short: Pre-cool or pre-warm your car from inside the house. Walk out to a comfortable car. We install push-button remote start systems on most vehicles, including push-to-start models when paired with the proper bypass module. Range options span short-range key fobs (around 1,500 feet, perfect for a parking lot or driveway), 2-way LCD remotes with confirmation tones (around 3,000 feet, useful for apartment garages), and smartphone modules (DroneMobile, Viper SmartStart) that work anywhere with cell service, a feature your factory key fob never had. The smartphone modules also unlock GPS location, geofence alerts, vehicle health alerts, and family-tracker features for parents with new drivers. Combine with a full alarm to get one integrated system that handles starting, locking, security, and tracking from a single remote and a single app. Diesel models with glow-plug warm-up cycles, manual-transmission vehicles with neutral-safety procedures, and hybrid vehicles all need vehicle-specific install procedures, we handle each correctly. Add a backup camera to your existing or new touchscreen, wired through the factory display on most 2014+ vehicles, or to a clean rear-view-mirror display on older cars where the dash doesn't support a video input. License-plate-mount cameras tuck into the plate frame for a stealthy install; trunk-lid mounts hide above the license plate on cars where it's cleaner. Truck-tailgate-handle replacement cams put the camera right above the bumper for a perfect tailgating angle. Every camera we install is 170° wide-angle for full coverage of curb, kid, and tow ball, with low-light infrared assist for parking-garage and night-time visibility, weatherproof connectors that survive years of pressure-washing, and proper wiring routed through the existing factory harness path so nothing gets pinched in the trunk or tailgate hinge. We also wire camera input into your existing factory radio on supported 2014+ vehicles using a video integration module, no head unit replacement required. Most installs are 1.5 hours. Lifetime workmanship warranty. **What's included:** - License-plate or trunk-mount cameras - 170° wide-angle lens - Factory-display integration on most 2014+ - Rear-view-mirror display option for older vehicles **FAQ:** - **Q: Will it work with my factory radio?** A: On most 2014+ vehicles, yes, we use a video integration module to feed the camera into the factory display. - **Q: Does it record?** A: Backup cameras are live-only. If you want recording, that's a dash-cam install, we offer those too. - **Q: Can you do the truck-tailgate-handle replacement?** A: Yes, we install OEM-replacement tailgate cameras for most 2014+ trucks. Cleanest install option for trucks. ## Dashcam Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/dashcam-installation Category: security Short: Hardwired 1080p, 2K, and 4K dashcams, single, dual, and triple channel, with parking mode. A dashcam saves you from insurance disputes, hit-and-run incidents, parking-lot dings, and false claims. We install single-channel front-only cams, dual-channel front-and-rear setups, and triple-channel front-rear-cabin setups for rideshare drivers and fleet vehicles, all hardwired through a fuse-tap kit so the camera draws power directly from the vehicle's electrical system instead of hanging off a 12V cigarette adapter. The hardwire kit routes cables through the headliner and A-pillar, leaves nothing visible from the driver's seat, and includes a battery-protection module that shuts off the camera when the vehicle's battery drops below a safe threshold so the cam never strands you with a dead battery. Resolution tiers we install: 1080p (good baseline, smaller files, longer storage retention), 2K (sharper plate-reading at distance), and 4K (the new luxury / professional standard, every detail captured). Cloud-connected 4G/LTE dashcams send live video to your phone from anywhere, useful if your car alarm goes off and you want to see what's happening in real time. Parking mode comes in three flavors: G-sensor only (records when an impact is detected), motion-activated (records when motion is detected near the vehicle), and time-lapse (records continuously at low frame rate for full coverage). Most cameras we install have built-in GPS that overlays speed and location on the recorded video, useful if you ever need to prove you weren't speeding when something happened, and many newer models include ADAS features (lane-departure warning, forward-collision alert) for safer daily driving. We install BlackVue, VIOFO, Thinkware, Garmin, and Nextbase dashcams, picked to your vehicle, your use case, and your budget. Most front-only installs are 1 hour, dual-channel installs are 1.5 hours, triple-channel rideshare setups are 2 to 2.5 hours. Lifetime workmanship warranty on the install. **What's included:** - Single, dual, or triple-channel (front, rear, cabin) - 1080p, 2K, or 4K resolution options - Hardwire kit (no plug visible, no draining your battery) - G-sensor, motion, or time-lapse parking mode - GPS speed and location overlay - Cloud-connected 4G/LTE models for live remote viewing - Optional ADAS (lane-departure, forward-collision) on newer models **FAQ:** - **Q: How is it powered without draining the battery?** A: The hardwire kit includes a low-voltage cutoff that shuts the cam off when your battery drops below a safe threshold (usually 12.0 V on standard vehicles, configurable). Parking-mode dashcams pull around 0.3 to 0.5 amps, so a healthy battery handles 1 to 2 days of parked recording with the cutoff in place. - **Q: What resolution should I get?** A: 1080p is fine for everyday accident documentation and the lowest file sizes. 2K is a meaningful upgrade for reading license plates at distance (think hit-and-run footage from across an intersection). 4K is the new pro-tier standard, captures the most detail, and uses larger memory cards. We help match resolution to your actual use case. - **Q: Should I get front-only or front + rear?** A: Front-only is enough for most insurance scenarios. Add a rear cam if you do a lot of highway driving, get rear-ended frequently, or live somewhere with high parking-lot risk. Triple-channel with cabin coverage is the standard setup for Uber and Lyft drivers. - **Q: Do cloud-connected dashcams cost extra to use?** A: Yes, the 4G/LTE models require a cellular plan, usually $5 to $15 per month depending on the brand. The benefit is real-time alerts and remote live view, useful if your alarm goes off or your vehicle is parked somewhere you can't see it. We'll explain the plan options at quote time. - **Q: What memory card do I need?** A: Use a high-endurance microSD card (rated for continuous-write video, look for the 'high endurance' label or U3 / V30 speed class). Standard photo memory cards burn out in months under dashcam loop-recording. We supply a properly rated card with every install. - **Q: Can I review footage on my phone?** A: Yes, every modern dashcam we install has a Wi-Fi app that lets you review and download clips on the spot, no need to pull the memory card. Cloud-connected models also stream live from anywhere with cell service. - **Q: Does it record audio? Is that legal in California?** A: Yes by default, but it can be turned off in the camera settings if you don't want it. California is a one-party consent state, meaning if you're in the vehicle and you consent (it's your car, your dashcam), audio recording is legal. If you want to be safe, disable audio. - **Q: Will the dashcam work if the engine is off?** A: Yes when wired in parking mode through the hardwire kit. The cam keeps recording on G-sensor or motion trigger while parked, with the low-voltage cutoff protecting your battery. Without parking mode wiring, the cam shuts off when you turn off the ignition. - **Q: Do you install dashcams in rideshare vehicles?** A: Yes, this is one of our most common installs. Triple-channel setups with cabin coverage are standard for Uber and Lyft drivers, the cabin cam protects you against false rider claims and the front + rear protect against insurance disputes. We can also disable the in-cabin audio if state law in your operating areas requires it. ## GPS Tracker Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/gps-tracker-installation Category: security Short: Vehicle GPS tracking for fleet, family, or theft recovery. A hidden GPS tracker gives you real-time vehicle location, route history, geofence alerts, and theft-recovery support. We install OEM-grade hardwired trackers, no batteries to die, no charging schedule, no missed updates. The tracker is wired into the vehicle's switched power and ground, hidden in a non-obvious location during install, and pairs with a smartphone app that shows live location, full driving history with timestamps, geofence alerts (push notifications when the vehicle leaves or enters a defined area), speed alerts (notifications when the vehicle exceeds a threshold, useful for parents with new drivers), and after-hours alerts for fleet managers. Theft recovery: if the vehicle is stolen, the cellular tracker reports its location to your phone and to law enforcement on request. Common GPS use cases: parents tracking new teen drivers, business owners managing service-vehicle fleets, anyone in a high-theft ZIP code, and high-value classic-car or specialty-vehicle owners. Most trackers require a small monthly cellular subscription, we'll explain pricing at quote time. Install is 1 hour. **What's included:** - Hard-wired (no charging required) - Live location + route history - Geofence alerts to your phone - Theft-recovery support **FAQ:** - **Q: Is there a monthly fee?** A: Yes, most GPS systems require a small monthly subscription for cellular data. We'll explain the options. - **Q: Will the driver know it's there?** A: Trackers are hidden during install. They're undetectable without intentional inspection. - **Q: Can it disable the vehicle if it's stolen?** A: Yes, with an optional starter-disable kit. We can include that with the install if you want it. ## Marine Audio Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/marine-audio-installation Category: marine Short: Boat speakers, marine subs, weatherproof amps, and tower audio. Boats have specific audio requirements that automotive gear can't meet. UV exposure, salt spray, sustained humidity, vibration from waves, and constant temperature swings will kill any non-marine speaker, amplifier, or wiring connection within months. Marine-rated gear uses UV-resistant plastic cones, sealed waterproof voice coils, corrosion-resistant grilles and hardware, and amplifiers with conformal-coated PCBs that survive condensation. We install marine head units with weatherproof faceplates and Bluetooth, 6.5" and 8" coaxial tower speakers in custom-mount or factory-mount configurations, weatherproof subwoofers in sealed marine-grade enclosures, and marine-rated amplifiers designed for the harsh environment. Every wiring run is tinned-copper marine wire, every connection is heat-shrink-sealed, and every component is mounted to handle vibration without loosening. We work on bowriders, center consoles, pontoons, runabouts, sailboats, and wakeboard towers. Tower audio installs include the speaker brackets, run wiring through the tower frame to keep it hidden, and tune for the open-air listening position. Marine head units control via Bluetooth from your phone or a wired wired remote. Most installs are 4 to 8 hours depending on speaker count and access difficulty. **What's included:** - UV + salt-water-rated speakers - Sealed weatherproof connections - Tower-mount speaker brackets - Marine subs and amps designed for boats **FAQ:** - **Q: Are car speakers OK to use on a boat?** A: No, UV and salt will kill them in months. Marine-rated gear is built for the environment and lasts years. - **Q: Can you do tower audio on my wakeboard tower?** A: Yes, we install full tower-can audio with marine-rated speakers and dedicated amps. - **Q: Will the system work with the engine off?** A: Yes, we wire to a deep-cycle accessory battery so you can run audio for hours without affecting the starting battery. ## ATV / UTV Audio Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/atv-utv-audio-installation Category: marine Short: Sound bars, dash speakers, and weatherproof systems for side-by-sides. Polaris RZRs, Can-Am Mavericks, Honda Talons, Yamaha Wolverines, and other side-by-sides all benefit from a proper sound system that survives mud, dust, water crossings, and trail vibration. We install Bluetooth-amplified roof sound bars sized for specific UTV models, weatherproof dash speakers and overhead pod speakers, marine-rated subwoofers in sealed enclosures designed for the available cargo space, and Class-D amplifiers with conformal-coated PCBs that handle vibration without rattling components loose. Every connection is sealed against water intrusion, every wire is run through factory-style harness paths so nothing snags on trail debris, and every component is mounted with vibration-damping hardware. Sound bars include built-in Bluetooth so you can run them straight from your phone, plus auxiliary inputs for harness-mic systems on the bigger competition rigs. Battery setup matters on UTVs, we wire systems through a relay so they only run with the key on, preventing dead-battery surprises after a trail break. We also handle helmet-comm integration on systems where riders want voice communication overlaid with music. Common UTV installs are 4 to 6 hours. Lifetime workmanship warranty. **What's included:** - Roof-mounted sound bars (Bluetooth + amplified) - Weatherproof dash + overhead speakers - Marine-rated subwoofers + amps - Sealed wiring for mud/dust/water **FAQ:** - **Q: Will it survive mud and water?** A: Marine-rated speakers and amps are designed for that. Properly installed, our UTV systems hold up to daily off-road use. - **Q: How long does a UTV install take?** A: A sound bar swap is a couple hours. A full system with a sub and amp can take most of a day. We'll book accordingly. - **Q: Can I run it without the engine on?** A: Yes, we wire it to a relay so accessories run on key-on power. For long stops, we recommend an auxiliary battery. ## Jeep Audio Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/jeep-audio-installation Category: marine Short: Sound bars, weatherproof speakers, and full Wrangler systems. Wranglers and Gladiators have unique audio challenges, top-down driving, removable doors, full-soft-top weather exposure, and a limited number of speaker locations that don't get covered by removable parts. We install overhead Bluetooth-amplified sound bars sized to bolt to the roll cage, weatherproof tube speakers that mount to the roll bar at ear level for top-off driving, kick-panel and footwell speaker pods that stay protected from the elements, and weatherproof subwoofers either in stealth-style sealed enclosures or in dedicated Stealthbox-style bolt-in systems that fit specific Wrangler model years. Every speaker in our Jeep installs is marine-rated or marine-equivalent, the doors are coming off, the top is coming off, the rain is coming in, and your audio gear has to handle it all without failing. Wranglers with the factory Uconnect radio can keep that head unit and tap into its audio output to drive aftermarket speakers and amps without replacing the dash. JL and JT Wranglers with the Alpine premium audio system can keep that system and add a sub-and-amp combo to fill in the bottom end. Most full Jeep audio installs run 4 to 6 hours. The South Bay Jeep crowd is one of our regular customer bases. **What's included:** - Overhead sound bars sized for Wrangler / Gladiator - Weatherproof tube speakers for roll bars - Kick-panel and footwell adds - Subwoofer options that survive door removal **FAQ:** - **Q: Will it work with the doors off?** A: Yes, every speaker in our Jeep installs is weatherproof. Doors off, top off, no problem. - **Q: Can I keep my factory Uconnect radio?** A: Yes, we tap into Uconnect's audio output to drive aftermarket speakers without replacing the head unit. - **Q: Does it survive rain in a soft-top Wrangler?** A: Yes. Marine-rated components and sealed connections handle daily rain and weather without issue. ## Vehicle Lighting Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/vehicle-lighting-installation Category: other Short: LED interior, underbody, headlight, and accent lighting. Lighting changes the personality of a vehicle. We install LED interior accent lighting (dash, footwell, dome, headliner), underbody glow kits in fixed-color or smartphone-controlled RGB, halo and DRL headlight upgrades that modernize older vehicles, color-changing wheel-well lights, sequential turn-signal mirror lights, and rock lights for off-road builds. Smartphone-controlled apps let you match colors to your music, set static colors for a subtle accent, or program color-change sequences for show events. Every install uses proper relays for high-draw circuits, fuse-tap kits for low-draw add-ons, OEM-style connectors throughout, and ignition-switched or accessory-switched power sources so lights don't run with the vehicle off, clean wiring is what makes an LED install hold up over years instead of flickering or tripping CAN-bus warning lights. Headlight upgrades include proper canbus-decoder modules to prevent error codes, bulb-out warnings, and flickering at startup. We carry name-brand LED bulbs rated for verified lumen output, beam pattern, and lifespan. Common LED installs run 1 to 4 hours depending on complexity. **What's included:** - Interior RGB accent lighting - Underbody glow kits (smartphone-controlled) - Halo + DRL headlight upgrades - Wheel-well + rock lights for off-road **FAQ:** - **Q: Will LED lights drain my battery?** A: Properly installed with timers and low-voltage cutoffs, no. We wire to ignition or accessory so they don't run with the car off. - **Q: Are these legal in California?** A: Interior lighting is legal. Some underbody and exterior colors are restricted while driving, we'll explain at install. - **Q: Do you install LED headlight upgrades?** A: Yes. We use canbus-decoder modules to prevent flickering and bulb-out warnings on modern vehicles. ## Factory Radio Upgrade URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/factory-radio-upgrade Category: audio Short: Keep the factory look, gain Bluetooth, USB, CarPlay, and more. Want to keep your factory radio? We upgrade it in place. Add wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth audio streaming, USB-C charging, backup-camera input, dual dashcam input, and even satellite radio to many factory head units, without changing how the dashboard looks. The integration modules we use plug between the factory radio and the rest of the vehicle's harness, intercept audio and video signals, and inject the upgraded features through the existing factory display. The result: OEM appearance, modern features. Supported vehicles include most 2010+ Toyota, Honda, Lexus, Acura, Mazda, Subaru, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and many GM and Ford trucks and SUVs. Some older vehicles can be upgraded with simpler Bluetooth-and-USB-only modules. The install is fully reversible: every connection uses an OEM-style T-harness adapter, factory wiring stays untouched, and the original radio can be reinstalled at any time with the factory warranty intact. Common factory-radio upgrades take 1 to 3 hours. Lifetime workmanship warranty on the integration module install. **What's included:** - Wireless CarPlay / Android Auto add-on modules - Bluetooth + USB to factory radios - Backup camera input on factory display - Satellite radio add-on **FAQ:** - **Q: Which radios can be upgraded in place?** A: Most 2010+ factory radios. Call us with your year/make/model and we'll confirm what's possible. - **Q: Does this void my warranty?** A: Our installs use OEM-grade T-harness adapters that keep every factory connection intact. The work is fully reversible, and the factory warranty remains in effect. - **Q: Can I add a backup camera too?** A: Yes, most integration modules include a video input for backup cam, and we can wire and install both at once. ## Rear Seat Entertainment URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/rear-seat-entertainment Category: audio Short: Headrest screens, overhead drop-down monitors, and gaming setups. Long road trips with kids in the back are easier with rear-seat entertainment. We install dual headrest 10" or 12" monitors mounted in custom-fitted headrest sleeves so the screens look factory-installed, overhead 13" drop-down displays mounted to the headliner for vehicles where headrest mounting isn't possible, and full multi-screen setups with HDMI and USB-C inputs for connecting Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Apple TV, or laptops. Wireless headphone support keeps the front of the car quiet, each screen pairs with its own dual-headphone set so two kids can watch different content without disturbing each other or the front passengers. The monitors integrate with your existing car audio if you want, or run independently with their own speakers and headphones. Dual-input headrests let two passengers watch separate sources simultaneously. Power comes from the vehicle's accessory harness so screens shut off with the ignition. SUVs, minivans, and family sedans are the most common installs. Most dual-monitor installs are 3 to 4 hours. Lifetime workmanship warranty. **What's included:** - Dual headrest 10" or 12" monitors - Overhead 13" drop-down screens - HDMI inputs for game consoles - Wireless headphone support **FAQ:** - **Q: Can my kids watch different things?** A: Yes, dual headrest screens with separate inputs let each passenger watch independently. - **Q: Do they integrate with the front audio?** A: They can route through the main system or use wireless headphones, your choice. - **Q: Will they work with my game console?** A: Yes, the monitors have HDMI and USB-C inputs that work with Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, Apple TV, and laptops. ## Audio System Repair & Diagnostics URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/audio-system-repair Category: other Short: Subs cutting out? Static? Distorted bass? We'll diagnose and fix it. We diagnose and repair audio system issues, alternator whine, blown speakers, intermittent power loss, distorted bass, dead amps, popping noises, ground-loop hum, blown fuses, intermittent CarPlay drops, factory-radio integration issues, and any wiring gremlin you've got. The diagnostic process always starts the same way: we listen to the symptom, replicate it on the bench or in the vehicle, and trace the issue back through the signal path until we find the root cause. Photos of every fault are documented before any repair work begins, so you know exactly what was wrong, why it happened, and what we're fixing. Common repairs include re-grounding amplifiers to clear alternator whine, replacing burnt voice coils on subs that were running over their RMS, re-tuning gains on amps that were running too hot, replacing aging RCA cables that pick up ignition noise, and tidying up wiring runs so the system runs cleanly. We work on systems regardless of where they were originally installed. Most diagnostics are same-day. Lifetime workmanship warranty on every repair. **What's included:** - Alternator whine + ground-loop fixes - Blown speaker replacement - Amp re-tuning + gain matching - Wiring overhauls on bad installs - Photo proof of issue before repair **FAQ:** - **Q: Can you fix a system you didn't install?** A: Yes, we work on systems regardless of where they were originally installed. Repairs depend on parts availability, we'll quote a turnaround at diagnostic time. ## Window Tint Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/window-tint-installation Category: other Short: Carbon and ceramic tint for sedans, trucks, SUVs, Teslas, and Wranglers. Window tint cuts interior heat, blocks UV that fades upholstery and dashboards, adds privacy, and gives the vehicle a finished look. We install carbon and ceramic films from established brands, all installations done indoors in a controlled environment to keep dust and bubbles out of the finish. Carbon film is the practical mid-tier, solid heat rejection, good color stability, no signal interference with phones or GPS. Ceramic film is the upgrade tier, superior heat rejection (up to 60% in the IR range), the strongest UV block, and zero metallic content so radio and cellular reception stay clean. We tint front sides, back sides, rear windows, sunroofs, and windshield brow strips. Common vehicles include daily drivers, lifted trucks, SUVs, Teslas, and Wranglers and Gladiators. We follow California's tint law on every install, rear and back-side windows can be any darkness, front sides must allow at least 70% visible light transmission, windshield top brow up to 4 inches is allowed. Most full-vehicle installs run 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Lifetime warranty on the film bubbling, peeling, or fading. **What's included:** - Carbon or ceramic film options - Front, back, sides, rear, and sunroof - Indoor controlled-environment install - California-legal front-window VLT (70%) - Lifetime film warranty (bubbling, peeling, fading) **FAQ:** - **Q: How dark can I tint my windows in California?** A: Rear and back-side windows can be any darkness. Front side windows must allow at least 70% visible light transmission. Windshield top brow up to 4 inches is allowed. We follow California spec on every install. - **Q: What's the difference between carbon and ceramic tint?** A: Carbon is the practical mid-tier with solid heat rejection and good color stability. Ceramic is the upgrade tier with superior heat rejection (up to 60% in the infrared range), the strongest UV block, and zero signal interference. We'll spec which fits your budget and goals. - **Q: Will tint interfere with my GPS or cell signal?** A: No. Carbon and ceramic films are non-metallic, so signals pass through cleanly. Older metallic films could interfere; the modern carbon and ceramic films we install are signal-transparent. - **Q: How long until the tint is fully cured?** A: Tint takes 3 to 7 days to fully cure depending on weather. Don't roll your windows down for at least 3 days to let the adhesive set. Slight haze or water bubbles during curing are normal and disappear as the film dries. - **Q: Can you remove old or damaged tint?** A: Yes. Removal is a separate quote, depending on the film type and how aged it is. Once the old film is off, we install the new film right away in the same appointment. ## LED Light Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/led-light-installation Category: other Short: LED upgrades end-to-end, headlights, fog, light bars, pods, tail, interior, and accent. LEDs are the universal lighting upgrade. We install LED bulbs and fixtures across the entire vehicle, headlight upgrades (low-beam, high-beam, fog, DRL), tail-light and brake-light LEDs, reverse-light LEDs for actual visibility when backing up at night, off-road LED light bars (mounted to the bumper, roof, or A-pillar), pod and cube lights for Jeeps, trucks, and side-by-sides, rock lights for under-vehicle off-road visibility, and interior LED accent strips for dash, footwell, and headliner. Every LED install includes the right adapter wiring, a canbus-decoder module on modern vehicles to prevent flickering and dashboard bulb-out warnings, ignition or accessory-switched power so lights don't drain the battery when the vehicle is off, and proper relay wiring on high-draw fixtures like roof-mounted light bars. Bulbs and fixtures are picked for verified lumen output, beam-pattern integrity, color temperature consistency, and confirmed lifespan, the cheap LED kits you see online are not what we install. Common LED installs run 30 minutes for a single bulb swap up to 4 hours for a full off-road build with bar, pods, rock lights, and switch panel. Lifetime workmanship warranty on every install. **What's included:** - Headlights, fog, DRL, tail, brake, and reverse LEDs - Off-road light bars, pods, cube, and rock lights - Interior accent strips (dash, footwell, headliner) - Canbus-decoder modules on modern vehicles (no flicker, no warnings) - Relay-wired high-draw fixtures with switch panels - 5000K to 6500K daylight color temperature options **FAQ:** - **Q: Are LED headlight upgrades legal in California?** A: Direct LED bulb replacements into halogen housings sit in a gray area of DOT bulb regulation. We install bulbs that match factory beam pattern and color temperature to keep the upgrade as close to legal-spec as possible. If you want a fully DOT-compliant brighter output, ask us about a projector retrofit. - **Q: Will my LEDs flicker or trigger a bulb-out warning?** A: On most 2010-and-newer vehicles, yes, unless we install a canbus-decoder module to stabilize the load. Every install we do includes the decoder when the vehicle needs one, so flickering and bulb-out warnings stay off the dash. - **Q: Can you install an off-road light bar on my truck or Jeep?** A: Yes. We mount LED light bars to bumpers, roofs, and A-pillars, run relay-protected wiring to the battery, and add a labeled switch in the cabin. Common sizes range from 20-inch single-row to 50-inch double-row bars. We size and aim them so they're useful off-road without scattering glare into other drivers on-road. - **Q: Do you install rock lights and underbody LEDs?** A: Yes. Rock lights mount under the vehicle and give you ground visibility on trail at night. Underbody RGB kits are smartphone-controlled and color-changing for show use. Both run on switched power so they don't drain the battery. - **Q: Will LED lights drain my battery?** A: Properly installed with switched power and low-draw fixtures, no. We wire interior and accent LEDs to ignition or accessory power so they shut off with the car. High-draw fixtures like light bars are relay-protected and run only when their dedicated switch is on. - **Q: Are LEDs brighter than HIDs?** A: Modern high-end LEDs are very close to HID brightness, but HIDs still edge them out at peak lumen output. LEDs win on power efficiency, lifespan, instant-on with no warmup, and no high-voltage ballasts to fail. For most daily drivers, LED is the smarter pick. For off-road maximum-output driving lights, HID still has a role. - **Q: How long do LED bulbs last?** A: Quality LED bulbs are rated for 20,000 to 30,000 hours, often outlasting the vehicle. Cheap LED bulbs from no-name brands fail much faster, which is why we only install bulbs with verified lumen and lifespan ratings. ## HID Light Installation URL: https://audioonesd.com/services/hid-light-installation Category: other Short: HID / Xenon kits for headlights, fog lights, and off-road driving lights. HID (high-intensity discharge), often called Xenon, lighting puts out roughly three times the lumens of a factory halogen bulb. We install full HID conversion kits across the lighting positions where they actually make sense: headlight low-beam, headlight high-beam, fog lights, and high-output off-road driving lights for trucks and overland builds. Every kit includes the bulbs, igniters, ballasts, dust covers, and a relay harness wired straight to the battery for clean, stable power that never stresses your factory headlight wiring. Color temperature options run from 4300K (the OEM Xenon white) up to 6000K (classic blue-white luxury look). For modern vehicles, we use canbus-compatible ballasts that prevent flickering and dashboard bulb-out warnings, and we confirm housing compatibility (reflector vs. projector) at quote time so the beam pattern stays controlled and you do not blind oncoming drivers. We stock Morimoto, Innovited, Xtreme Vision, and Philips kits, picked to your vehicle, your housing type, and your intended use (street vs. off-road). Most HID installs take 1 to 1.5 hours, full off-road driving-light builds run 2 to 3 hours. Lifetime workmanship warranty on the install. **What's included:** - Headlights (low / high beam), fog, and off-road driving lights - 4300K to 6000K color temperature options - Canbus-compatible ballasts (no flicker, no error codes) - Direct-to-battery relay harness for clean power - Morimoto, Innovited, Xtreme Vision, and Philips kits in stock - Housing compatibility confirmed at quote (reflector vs. projector) **FAQ:** - **Q: Are HID conversion kits legal in California?** A: Aftermarket HID retrofits into factory halogen reflector housings are not DOT-approved and are sold for off-road or show use only. We will install them on customer request with full disclosure. If you want a brighter headlight that stays on the legal side, ask us about an LED upgrade or a full projector retrofit. - **Q: Will HIDs blind oncoming drivers?** A: Plug-and-play HID kits dropped into halogen reflector housings can scatter light unpredictably and produce glare for oncoming traffic. A projector retrofit keeps the beam controlled. We will tell you upfront whether your vehicle's housing is suitable for an HID swap or whether you should look at a retrofit instead. - **Q: Can you install HID off-road driving lights?** A: Yes. HID driving lights mounted to the bumper or roof are excellent for overland and desert use, much higher peak output than even the brightest LED bars. We mount, aim, and wire them through a relay-protected circuit with a labeled cabin switch. - **Q: What color temperature should I pick?** A: 4300K is closest to factory OEM HID white, the most natural daylight look and the brightest perceived output. 5000K is a touch cooler, still very white. 6000K is the classic blue-white, more aesthetic but slightly less actual road brightness. We will help you pick at quote time. - **Q: Will HIDs fit my vehicle's headlight housing?** A: Most halogen housings can physically accept an HID bulb conversion, but some require a wiring relay, anti-flicker module, or housing modification. We confirm fit and required adapters at the quote stage so there are no surprises mid-install. - **Q: Should I get HID or LED?** A: For street headlight upgrades on a daily driver, LED is usually the smarter pick (easier, more legal-friendly, instant-on, no ballasts). For maximum-output fog or off-road driving lights, HID still has a peak-brightness edge. We will recommend based on your vehicle and use case at quote time. - **Q: How long do HID bulbs last?** A: Quality HID bulbs are rated for 2,000 to 3,000 hours, much longer than halogen. Ballasts last even longer. The most common failure mode is cheap kits, which is why we install only kits with proven ballast quality. --- # Brands ## Kicker URL: https://audioonesd.com/brands/kicker Tagline: Live Loud, flagship subs, amps, and component speakers. AudioControl is the name we reach for when a customer wants to add an aftermarket amplifier and subs to a vehicle that has a factory radio (especially one with built-in EQ, time-alignment, or premium-audio signal shaping). The LC2i and LC6i line-output converters cleanly extract signal from factory speaker wires, and the LC-DSP processors (LC-1.800, LC-1.300) build in DSP processing so the new amplifier sees flat, properly summed signal. The D-series DSP-amplifier combos (D-4.800, D-6.1200) are powerful 4-channel and 6-channel amps with built-in 6-channel DSP, perfect for clean OEM-integration jobs. AudioControl gear is professional-grade, easy to tune, and built in the USA. Their AC-DSP smartphone tuning app makes day-of fine-tuning straightforward. The SAZ-series and SCV-series amplifiers are the matching Class-D heavyweights, designed to deliver that wattage cleanly without thermal protection issues at competition levels. Sundown also makes the SD line for daily drivers who want a taste of the SPL world without going to a competition rig. We install Sundown for SPL competitors, score-focused show cars, demo-vehicle builds, and customers chasing the loudest possible system in their daily driver. Sundown gear isn't subtle, isn't quiet, and doesn't pretend to be, it's bass for people who measure their builds in decibels and amp draw. The GS line is the more affordable tier that still chases real audiophile performance. Audio Frog also makes a SQ-tuned subwoofer and a small but impressive lineup of compression-driver tweeters. The brand's stage-and-image performance puts it in the same conversation as Focal and Hertz, with the added advantage of being designed by an installer-tuner who actually competes with this gear. We install Audio Frog for customers who want to hear instruments separated, with imaging that places the singer dead center between the A-pillars. For street cars, Diamond's HEX and DES component speakers and DXi subwoofers are solid mid-tier choices with clean output and good warranty support. We install Diamond Audio frequently on Polaris RZRs, Can-Am Mavericks, Honda Talons, Yamaha Wolverines, Wranglers, and Gladiators where the rugged build quality matters more than reference-grade sound. Lifetime workmanship warranty on every Diamond install. **Best for:** - UTV / ATV / side-by-side sound bars - Jeep and Wrangler audio - Marine-rated subs and amps - Motorcycle audio ## Cerwin-Vega URL: https://audioonesd.com/brands/cerwin-vega Tagline: Loud-and-proud subwoofers and amps with a 70-year heritage. Cerwin-Vega has been building loud speakers since 1954, and the car audio lineup carries that DNA forward. The Stroker and Vega-series subwoofers are designed to move air, hitting hard and recovering fast. The matching Stroker amplifiers are honest workhorses that drive these subs without thermal issues. Cerwin-Vega's Vega-series component and coaxial speakers are mid-tier upgrades with solid sensitivity, meaning they go loud without needing massive amplification. Cerwin-Vega's heritage is rooted in the live-sound and pro-audio world, and that voicing carries over: their car gear is built to be loud and unapologetic about it. We install Cerwin-Vega for daily-driver bass-heads who want recognizable loudness on a fair budget, and for vintage-vibe builds where the brand history matters. The Stroker subs work especially well in larger ported enclosures where they can fully express themselves. Lifetime workmanship warranty on every Cerwin-Vega build. **Best for:** - Loud daily-driver subwoofers - Larger ported enclosures - Mid-tier component speakers - Heritage brand recognition ## Musway URL: https://audioonesd.com/brands/musway Tagline: German-engineered DSP amps for clean factory-radio integration. Musway is a German brand specializing in DSP-equipped amplifiers and plug-and-play OEM-integration solutions. The TUNE5 and DSP6 processors are 6-channel DSPs that take signal from any factory head unit (including premium-audio systems with built-in EQ and time-alignment) and clean it up before sending it to aftermarket amplifiers. The M-series amplifiers come with built-in DSP, smartphone-app tuning, and high-resolution audio support. Musway's vehicle-specific D-series plug-and-play amplifiers drop into late-model premium-audio cars (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Volvo) without cutting any factory wires, the harness plugs into the car's existing premium-amp socket and the new Musway amp does the work. Setup is fast, the result is a dramatically improved factory-look system. We install Musway for customers who want better sound without losing factory features (steering controls, navigation, premium-audio EQ presets), and for plug-and-play upgrades on European luxury cars where preserving factory wiring matters. Lifetime workmanship warranty. **Best for:** - Plug-and-play OEM upgrades on European cars - DSP-amp combos with smartphone tuning - Factory-radio integration - BMW / Mercedes / Audi / VW upgrades ## Stinger URL: https://audioonesd.com/brands/stinger Tagline: Pro-grade wiring kits, batteries, capacitors, and install hardware. Stinger is the brand we trust for the install hardware that the rest of the audio system depends on. The 4000 / 6000 / 8000-series amplifier wiring kits use real OFC (oxygen-free copper) gauge, the wire actually measures 0/4/8 AWG, which a lot of cheaper kits don't. The Stinger PRO Battery and Roadkill Pro sound deadener materials are go-to upgrades on serious builds where electrical headroom and reduced cabin noise are non-negotiable. Stinger Roadkill Pro is one of the better sound-deadener mats on the market for door, floor, and trunk treatments. Their high-current capacitors and battery isolators handle SPL builds without voltage sag, and the Stinger Heigh10 / Heigh11 head units are surprisingly capable mid-tier touchscreen options for stock-look retrofits. We use Stinger components on most amplifier and subwoofer installations because the spec sheets honestly match the real-world performance. Lifetime workmanship guarantee. **Best for:** - Real-OFC amplifier wiring kits - Sound deadening (Roadkill Pro) - High-current capacitors and battery isolators - Mid-tier stock-look head units ## Metra URL: https://audioonesd.com/brands/metra Tagline: Vehicle-specific dash kits, harnesses, and integration adapters for every car. Metra is the install-hardware backbone of nearly every aftermarket head unit retrofit we do. Their vehicle-specific dash kits make a new double-DIN or 9-inch floating-display radio sit flush in the factory dash with no gaps, no rough cuts, and no warranty-voiding modifications. T-harness adapters from Metra and the Axxess sub-brand let the new radio plug into the factory wiring without cutting a single wire, fully reversible, factory warranty stays intact. Steering-wheel-control retention modules, factory-amplifier interface modules, satellite-radio antenna adapters, OEM-camera integration kits, and HDMI-input adapters are all in Metra's catalog. The Axxess line specifically handles the trickier integration jobs on late-model premium-audio vehicles where the factory radio is doing signal processing that has to be cleanly bypassed. We use Metra on essentially every car-stereo install we do, it's not a glamour brand, but the install isn't clean without it. **Best for:** - Vehicle-specific dash kits - T-harness wiring adapters - Steering-wheel-control retention - Factory-amplifier interface modules ## PAC Audio URL: https://audioonesd.com/brands/pac-audio Tagline: OEM integration interfaces and the cleanest line-output converters in the business. PAC Audio is the gold standard for OEM-integration interfaces. Their AmpPRO line takes signal directly off the factory radio's high-resolution digital audio bus on supported BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Cadillac, Toyota, and Ford vehicles, so the aftermarket amplifier sees clean, full-bandwidth signal without any of the EQ or limiting that factory amplifiers add. The LP7-series line-output converters handle the more standard speaker-level integration jobs cleanly. Their RP4 and RP5 radio-replacement interfaces preserve steering-wheel controls, climate-control displays, parking sensor chimes, and amplifier integration on radios that historically were nearly impossible to swap. The CAM-300 and CAM-600 backup-camera integration modules feed video into factory displays on supported 2014+ vehicles. PAC Audio gear isn't cheap, but it's the right answer for late-model premium-audio integration where lesser hardware can't deliver clean signal. We install PAC on essentially every BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Lexus integration job we touch. **Best for:** - BMW / Mercedes / Lexus / Audi factory-radio integration - Backup-camera input on factory displays - Steering-wheel-control retention - High-resolution audio extraction ## Infinity URL: https://audioonesd.com/brands/infinity Tagline: Reference and Kappa speaker series, Harman quality at a fair price. Infinity is part of the Harman audio family (same parent as JBL, Harman Kardon, Mark Levinson, Revel, and AKG), and the car audio lineup benefits from that parent-company engineering. The Reference-series component and coaxial speakers are mid-tier upgrades with the kind of crossover design and tweeter performance you'd normally pay more for. The Kappa-series steps up to the audiophile tier with a cleaner midrange and a more refined high-end, and includes the Edge Driven Tweeter (EDT) that gives them their characteristic smooth top end. Infinity also makes a Reference-series subwoofer line that pairs cleanly with Kappa-tier mid-bass for a balanced full-range system. We install Infinity for customers who want a known, trusted brand at a fair price, they're a frequent factory-replacement upgrade pick because they integrate cleanly with stock-radio power without needing an amplifier upgrade right away. Lifetime workmanship warranty on every Infinity install. **Best for:** - Mid-tier component and coaxial speakers - Factory-radio-power friendly upgrades - Refined high-end with EDT tweeters - Subwoofer-and-mid-bass full-range pairings ## JBL URL: https://audioonesd.com/brands/jbl Tagline: Stadium and Club speakers, BassPro subs, and Harman engineering pedigree. JBL has been one of the most recognizable names in audio for decades, and the car audio lineup carries that legacy forward. The Stadium GTO and Club series component and coaxial speakers are tuned by the same Harman engineering team behind their professional studio monitors and stadium-PA systems, the result is speakers that go loud, sound clean, and are easy to drive on factory radio power. The Stage Pro line is a budget-conscious daily-driver replacement set that still benefits from JBL's engineering. The BassPro and Stadium-series subwoofers (powered enclosure and standalone driver options) deliver controlled, musical bass that pairs naturally with their amps. JBL also makes a strong line of marine speakers and tower speakers under the same brand, used widely on boats and at concerts alike. We install JBL for customers who want a household name they can trust, full-range OEM upgrades, and marine systems where the brand's salt-and-UV durability is well-proven. Lifetime workmanship warranty. **Best for:** - Factory-radio-friendly speaker upgrades - Powered subwoofer enclosures (BassPro) - Marine and tower speakers - Trusted household-name choice --- # Combo Packages ## Apple CarPlay + Backup Camera URL: https://audioonesd.com/packages/apple-carplay-backup-camera Short: Modernize your daily, CarPlay/Android Auto + a factory-look backup camera in one visit. ## Subwoofer + Amp Combo URL: https://audioonesd.com/packages/subwoofer-amp-combo Short: Add real bass, subwoofer, amplifier, enclosure, and full wiring kit. ## Full Audio System Install URL: https://audioonesd.com/packages/full-system-install Short: Everything: head unit, speakers, sub, amp, wiring, and tuning. ## Remote Start + Alarm URL: https://audioonesd.com/packages/remote-start-alarm Short: One system. A little prep before your install appointment makes the day go faster and gives our techs cleaner access to your vehicle. None of this is required, the install happens either way, but doing the basics shaves time and keeps your stuff out of harm's way. Here's the checklist we send to customers when they book. ## Inside the cabin ### Clean out the daily clutter Empty the center console, the door pockets, the glove box, and the cubby under the climate controls. Anything not bolted down should come out, especially around the dash and the stereo area where the techs need to work. Loose items end up in the way, getting moved from cup holder to dash to floor as the install progresses, and small things have a way of disappearing under seats. ### Remove personal items from the trunk For a [subwoofer installation](/services/subwoofer-installation) or any work involving the trunk, clear it out. Take the spare tire well cover off and stack the contents on the floor or remove them entirely. The techs will need to access the spare-tire area for power-wire ground runs, the trunk lining for amp mounting, and the rear-seat area for power runs from the front. ### Pull aftermarket parts that come off easily Phone mounts, radar detectors, dash cams (if you're not having them serviced), GPS pucks, and steering-wheel covers slow down access to the dash. Anything you can pop off in 30 seconds, take it off before you arrive. We'll reinstall it after the work is done if you want. ### Vacuum the seat tracks Optional but appreciated. The techs spend time on the floor and on the seats, and a clean cabin makes the work easier and keeps your interior cleaner when they hand it back. ## What to bring ### The vehicle key fob Critical for any [remote start installation](/services/remote-start-installation), push-to-start vehicle, or job involving the immobilizer system. We need the working key, not a spare with a dead battery. If you only have one key, mention it when booking so we know to handle it carefully. ### Any gear you bought elsewhere If you purchased a head unit, speakers, or sub on Amazon, at a big-box retailer, or from another shop, bring it in original packaging with all accessories. We install customer-supplied gear all the time and back our labor with the lifetime workmanship warranty. Keep the receipts in case we find a defective unit and need to coordinate a manufacturer return. ### Your phone For [Apple CarPlay or Android Auto](/services/apple-carplay-android-auto) installs, we pair your phone before you leave so we can verify everything works. Same for Bluetooth-only setups. Bring your phone unlocked and signed into your accounts. ### Past install paperwork (if applicable) If we did your last install and something is being added to it, our records have you in the system already. If a different shop did the previous work, having any paperwork available helps us understand what's behind the dash before we open it up. ## What to expect on install day ### The drop-off We confirm the scope of work at drop-off, walk through any decisions that might come up mid-install (sound deadening on doors? RGB color preferences? amp mount location?), and give you a realistic time estimate. Most single-service installs are same-day. Combo and custom builds take longer, see our [car stereo installation](/services/car-stereo-installation) timing breakdown for specifics. ### During the install We don't need you waiting at the shop. South Bay has plenty to do nearby, and you can drop the vehicle and pick it up later. We'll text or call when it's ready, or sooner if anything comes up that needs your decision (a part you didn't expect, a vehicle quirk we want to confirm before drilling). ### The handoff When the work is done, we walk you through everything that was installed. Pair your phone, demo the features, set up the head unit's preferences, verify the steering-wheel buttons work, and answer questions before you drive off. Take your time with this, the more comfortable you are with the system day one, the more you'll get out of it. ## Driving considerations After a major install, plan a few short drives to break in components and find anything that needs a follow-up tweak. New speakers loosen up over the first 10-20 hours of playback. Amp gain settings sometimes need a small adjustment once you've heard the system at typical commute volume. If you're driving the I-5 daily and notice anything off in the first week, swing back and we'll re-tune at no cost, that's part of the workmanship warranty. Stop in at 1610 Palm Ave, call (619) 500-5560, or get a free quote online. Open Mon-Sat 9 AM-7 PM, Sun 9 AM-5 PM. **FAQ:** - **Q: Do I need to be at the shop during the install?** A: No. Drop the vehicle off and we'll text or call when it's ready. Most single-service installs finish same-day. - **Q: Can I bring my own gear?** A: Yes, all the time. Bring it in original packaging with accessories. We back the install labor with the lifetime workmanship warranty regardless of where the gear was purchased. - **Q: What if I forget to clear out my car?** A: Not a problem. We'll move what we need to and put it back. Clearing it out just makes the day go faster and keeps your items where you left them. - **Q: Will the install drain my battery?** A: No. Properly sized and wired for your vehicle, an audio system runs cleanly with the alternator. On high-power builds we recommend a Big-3 wiring upgrade, which we install with the system. - **Q: How long after the install before everything is fully broken in?** A: Speakers loosen up over the first 10 to 20 hours of playback. If anything sounds off in the first week, bring it back, follow-up tuning is part of the workmanship warranty. ## Marine Audio Buying Guide: Build a System That Survives Salt and Sun URL: https://audioonesd.com/blog/marine-audio-buying-guide Published: 2026-04-28 | Reading time: 6 min | Category: buyers-guide Excerpt: What separates marine audio from car audio, which speakers and amps actually survive the marine environment, and how to plan a boat install that lasts years instead of months. Boats kill audio gear that wasn't designed for the environment. UV, salt spray, condensation, vibration, and sustained humidity will turn a non-marine speaker into a rusted ruined piece of plastic within months. If you're planning a boat install, the gear has to be marine-rated from the cone outward. Here's how we approach [marine audio installation](/services/marine-audio-installation) at the shop. ## What makes a speaker actually marine-rated The label "marine" gets used loosely. Real marine-rated speakers have specific construction differences: - **UV-resistant cones:** Polypropylene or coated paper that doesn't fade, crack, or warp from sun exposure. Standard car speaker cones turn yellow and brittle in months on a boat. - **Sealed voice coils:** Waterproof voice-coil assemblies that handle direct splash, condensation, and high humidity without shorting or corroding. - **Stainless or rubber-coated grilles:** Salt corrodes painted steel grilles fast. Marine-grade hardware resists pitting and rust streaks. - **Conformal-coated crossovers:** PCB protection against moisture and salt-laden air. - **Sealed terminals:** Waterproof speaker-wire connections that don't corrode at the binding posts. [Kicker](/brands/kicker) and [Boss Audio](/brands/boss-audio) both make solid marine lines we install regularly. Marine versions of common car-audio brands cost more than the equivalent car part, and the price difference is the construction, not marketing. ## Speaker locations on common boat types ### Bowriders and runabouts Standard layout: 4 to 6 in-cabin coaxials mounted in side panels and bow seating, plus 2 to 4 tower or wakeboard-tower speakers if the boat has one. Cabin speakers handle conversation-volume listening, tower speakers handle on-the-water volume when the boat is moving and the wind is up. ### Center consoles These are the toughest installs. Almost everything is exposed. Speakers mount in the console face, T-top, hardtop, or transom. Tower-style coaxials in 6.5-inch and 8-inch sizes work well in T-top mounts. Subwoofers go in sealed marine enclosures inside the console. ### Pontoons Open-air listening on a pontoon is similar to wakeboard-tower audio, the listening position is wide, the wind is moving, and you need real output to be heard. Multiple pairs of marine coaxials around the perimeter, plus an amp to drive them, plus often a marine sub for low-end fill. ### Sailboats Quieter installs. Cockpit speakers and below-deck cabin speakers run from a marine head unit. Smaller amps work because volumes are lower than power-boat applications. ## Tower audio for wakeboard boats A wakeboard tower with audio brings the listening position up to where the wind is, which means tower speakers need real output to be heard over engine and wake noise. Tower-can speakers (6.5-inch or 8-inch coaxials in dedicated weatherproof cans) bolt to the tower frame, with wiring run inside the tower tubes to keep it hidden from view. For real on-water volume, we spec a tower amp sized to the speakers' RMS rating and tune the crossover to match the open-air listening position. Tower audio without a proper amp sounds thin at speed. ## Amplifiers for the marine environment Marine amps have the same internal differences as marine speakers: conformal-coated PCBs, corrosion-resistant terminals, sealed connections. We mount amps in dry, ventilated locations under helms, in dry storage, or in dedicated equipment compartments, never in bilges or open splash zones. A common boat amp build: - 4-channel amp for cabin speakers - 4-channel amp for tower speakers - Mono amp for the sub All three on a switched marine relay so the audio shuts off completely with the ignition, no parasitic battery drain when the boat sits. ## Battery setup matters Boats live and die by battery management. We wire audio systems through a dedicated relay so audio only runs with the key on, and recommend a deep-cycle accessory battery separate from the starting battery for boats where audio runs for hours at anchor. The accessory battery can power a full system for hours without affecting the engine starting battery. A battery isolator or smart switch keeps the two systems separate but lets the alternator charge both while underway. Done right, you can drop anchor, run audio at reasonable volume for an afternoon, and still have a starting battery ready when it's time to head in. ## How long the install takes Most marine installs run 4 to 8 hours depending on speaker count, access difficulty, and tower routing. Full custom builds with multiple zones, integrated lighting, and custom-fab subs take a couple of days. Cure time on marine-grade adhesives and sealants is included in that estimate. We work on bowriders, center consoles, pontoons, runabouts, sailboats, and wakeboard boats. Bring the boat in for a quote and we'll spec a system to your boat type, listening habits, and budget. Stop in at 1610 Palm Ave, call (619) 500-5560, or get a free quote online. Open Mon-Sat 9 AM-7 PM, Sun 9 AM-5 PM. **FAQ:** - **Q: Are car speakers OK to use on a boat?** A: No. UV exposure and salt air will destroy car speakers in months. Marine-rated gear is built for the environment and lasts years with proper installation. - **Q: Can you install tower audio on my wakeboard tower?** A: Yes. We install full tower-can speaker setups with marine-rated drivers, dedicated amps, and wiring routed through the tower frame for a clean look. - **Q: Will my audio drain the battery while I'm at anchor?** A: Wired correctly through a switched relay, no. For long anchor sessions we recommend a separate deep-cycle accessory battery so the starting battery stays full. - **Q: Do I need a different head unit for a boat?** A: Yes. Marine head units have weatherproof faceplates, sealed buttons, and corrosion-resistant internals. They also include features like NMEA 2000 boat-network integration on higher-end models. - **Q: How long does a full boat install take?** A: Most builds run 4 to 8 hours. Tower-audio, multi-zone, or fully custom builds take 1 to 2 days depending on complexity and cure time on marine sealants. ## Wrangler & Gladiator Audio: A Complete Guide for Top-Down Driving URL: https://audioonesd.com/blog/wrangler-gladiator-audio-guide Published: 2026-04-25 | Reading time: 6 min | Category: vehicle-specific Excerpt: A practical guide to building a Wrangler or Gladiator audio system that handles top-down driving, doors-off weekends, and San Diego rain without missing a beat. Wranglers and Gladiators have audio challenges no other vehicle on the road has to deal with. Doors come off. Tops come off. Rain blows through the cabin in winter. Sun bakes the dash in summer. The factory speaker locations get covered or removed depending on the configuration, and weather hits everything inside the cabin head-on. Building a system that handles all of it takes a different approach than a sedan install. Here's how we do [Jeep audio installation](/services/jeep-audio-installation) at the shop. ## Where speakers actually go on a Wrangler The Wrangler dash has a sound bar overhead by design, factory speakers live in this housing on most models. With the top off, those speakers are wide open to the elements. With the doors off, kick-panel and footwell speakers also see weather. The trick is choosing locations and gear that handle exposure. ### Roll-bar tube speakers Marine-rated tube speakers mount to the roll bar at ear level for the front passengers. They aim audio directly at the people in the seats, which makes a huge difference with the top down (the soundstage doesn't get blown away by 60-mph wind). Tube speakers come in 6.5-inch and 8-inch sizes, mostly RGB-illuminated for night-time vibes. ### Overhead amplified sound bars A complete sound bar bolts to the roll cage above the windshield, with built-in Bluetooth, integrated amplifier, and 4 to 6 speakers in one weatherproof housing. The advantage is a single-unit install with proven weatherproofing. We install sound bars sized specifically for JK, JL, and JT chassis so the mounting is bolt-in and the appearance is purpose-built for the vehicle. ### Kick-panel and footwell pods Smaller weatherproof speakers in kick panels and footwells fill in the bottom-end stage and add midbass that overhead-only systems lack. Marine-rated specs handle the doors-off exposure. ### Subwoofer options Bass on a Wrangler is a real engineering problem because the cargo area is small, open, and exposed. Two paths work well: - **Stealthbox-style enclosures:** Bolt-in fiberglass enclosures shaped to fit specific Wrangler model years and tucked into corners of the cargo area. Marine-rated drivers inside. Survives the elements. - **Under-seat slim subs:** Compact sealed enclosures that fit under the front seats. Less impact than a Stealthbox but keeps cargo space totally clear. Custom builds also fit, see our [custom audio installation](/services/custom-audio-installation) page for what we build for show vehicles and dedicated weekend rigs. ## Keeping the factory Uconnect Wranglers with factory Uconnect radios are a common starting point. The good news: Uconnect is a solid head unit with CarPlay and Android Auto built in on JL and JT generations. We don't need to replace it. Instead, we tap into Uconnect's audio output and drive aftermarket speakers and amps off the factory signal. Steering-wheel controls keep working. The dash looks original. For JL and JT Wranglers with the factory Alpine premium audio system, we keep that system entirely and add a sub-and-amp combo to fill in the bottom end. The Alpine head and door speakers handle midrange and highs, and a [Kicker](/brands/kicker) or [Alpine](/brands/alpine) sub on a small mono amp adds the bass the factory system lacks. ## Weatherproofing every connection Every wire run in our Jeep installs uses tinned-copper marine-grade cable. Every connection is heat-shrink-sealed with adhesive-lined shrink. Every speaker, amp, and sub is marine-rated or marine-equivalent. The doors are coming off. The top is coming off. The rain is coming in. None of it can be a question of whether the audio gear holds up. Power and ground runs go through the firewall using factory rubber grommets, not drilled through sheet metal where water can find a path in. RCA cables run on the opposite side of the vehicle from power wire to keep alternator noise out. Amps mount in protected locations, behind seats, in cargo-area side panels, or under custom-fab covers, never exposed to direct rain. ## Sample build for a daily-driver Wrangler A common setup we install: - Keep the factory Uconnect head unit - 4 marine-rated coaxials in factory speaker locations - 2 roll-bar tube speakers for top-down driving - 10-inch sub in a Stealthbox-style enclosure - 4-channel amp for the speakers, mono amp for the sub - Sound deadening on accessible interior panels - Full marine-grade wiring throughout Plan on 4 to 6 hours for a full build like this. The South Bay Jeep crowd is one of our regular customer bases, and most of these builds come back occasionally for tuning tweaks as the owner's preferences develop. Stop in at 1610 Palm Ave, call (619) 500-5560, or get a free quote online. Open Mon-Sat 9 AM-7 PM, Sun 9 AM-5 PM. **FAQ:** - **Q: Will my speakers survive the doors off?** A: Yes, every speaker in our Jeep installs is marine-rated or marine-equivalent. Doors off, top off, rain, sun, none of it is a problem for properly spec'd gear. - **Q: Can I keep my factory Uconnect radio?** A: Yes. We tap Uconnect's audio output and drive aftermarket speakers and amps off the factory signal. The dash stays original. - **Q: What's the best subwoofer setup for a Wrangler?** A: Stealthbox-style bolt-in fiberglass enclosures fit specific JK/JL/JT model years and tuck into cargo-area corners. Under-seat slim subs are an alternative if you want zero impact on cargo space. - **Q: Can I add a sound bar to a hard-top JL?** A: Yes. Overhead amplified sound bars bolt to the roll cage and work with hard tops, soft tops, and doors-off. We install sound bars sized for the JL specifically. - **Q: How long does a full Wrangler audio build take?** A: Most full builds run 4 to 6 hours depending on speaker count and sub configuration. Custom-fab work adds time for cure cycles on adhesives and finish. ## What's Inside a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty URL: https://audioonesd.com/blog/whats-inside-a-lifetime-workmanship-warranty Published: 2026-04-22 | Reading time: 4 min | Category: guides Excerpt: A clear breakdown of our lifetime workmanship warranty, what it covers, how claims work, and why a solid install backing matters as much as the gear it protects. Every install we do at the shop comes with a lifetime workmanship warranty. Customers ask what that actually means, so this post covers the specifics: what's covered, how the claim process works, and why a real install warranty matters as much as the gear sitting in your dash. ## What "workmanship" actually covers Workmanship is the labor side of the install. It's the wiring, the soldering, the mounting, the routing, the harness adapters, and the final tuning. Anything our techs touched and were responsible for putting together correctly. If something we did fails, we make it right at no cost. Specifically, the warranty covers: - Wiring and connections we made (head unit harnesses, RCA runs, power and ground, speaker leads, amp inputs) - Mounting hardware we installed (head units, amp racks, sub enclosures, brackets, bezels) - Custom fabrication we built (MDF enclosures, fiberglass panels, false floors, trim work) - Tuning and integration we performed (amp gains, crossover settings, factory radio integration modules, steering-wheel-control adapters) - Wire routing through the firewall, headliner, doors, and trunk If a connection comes loose, a wire chafes through, an enclosure rattles loose, an integration module loses its programming, or the install in any way doesn't hold up, that's on us and we fix it. ## What it doesn't cover Workmanship covers labor, not parts. Manufactured components have their own warranties from the brand. If a [Kicker](/brands/kicker) sub blows, an [Alpine](/brands/alpine) amp dies, or a [Pioneer](/brands/pioneer) head unit screen develops dead pixels, those go through the manufacturer. We help you file the claim, but the parts warranty is between you and the brand. Specifically not covered: - Manufacturer defects in head units, amps, speakers, or subs (that's the brand's warranty) - Damage from running gear outside its spec (driving an amp into hard clipping, exceeding sub RMS for sustained periods) - Accident or impact damage - Modifications made elsewhere after our install - Speakers blown from being run wide-open through the head unit's volume ## How to claim the warranty Bring the vehicle to the shop. That's the whole process. We don't need a receipt, we have you in the system from the original install. We pull up the work order, look at what was done, diagnose the issue, and fix it. The diagnostic itself is free if it turns out to be our work. If the issue is a parts failure or external damage, we tell you up front, walk you through the manufacturer warranty process, and quote any additional work separately so you know what you're committing to before any wrench moves. If you're not sure whether something is workmanship or parts, that's the point of bringing it in. Our [audio system repair](/services/audio-system-repair) service starts with a diagnostic, not a guess. We document the issue with photos before any repair work begins, so you know exactly what was wrong and what we're doing about it. ## Why a real install warranty matters The cleanest install can still develop issues over time. Vehicles flex, wires fatigue, connectors corrode in coastal humidity, and factory wiring around our work can change as the vehicle ages. A real workmanship warranty means you can keep coming back as long as you own the vehicle, and that backstop is worth more than the gear it protects. We also work on systems we didn't originally install. Bring your vehicle in, we'll diagnose it, and we can re-wire, re-tune, or repair as needed. The warranty starts on whatever new work we do. ## A few practical notes - Workmanship transfers if you sell the vehicle, but only if the new owner brings the original work order or has the install on file. - We service customer-supplied gear with the same warranty on the labor side. Buy a sub on Amazon, bring it in, we'll install it and back our work. - If your install develops an issue while you're out of state, call us. We can often diagnose over the phone or coordinate with a local shop you trust. Stop in at 1610 Palm Ave, call (619) 500-5560, or get a free quote online. Open Mon-Sat 9 AM-7 PM, Sun 9 AM-5 PM. **FAQ:** - **Q: Does the warranty cover the gear itself?** A: No, the lifetime workmanship warranty covers our install labor. The gear is covered by the manufacturer's warranty. We help you file manufacturer claims when needed. - **Q: How do I claim the warranty?** A: Bring the vehicle to the shop. We have your work order on file. The diagnostic is free if it turns out to be our work, and we fix it at no cost. - **Q: Does it transfer if I sell the car?** A: Yes, with the original work order or proof the install is on file. The new owner can bring the vehicle in for warranty work. - **Q: What if I bring in a system you didn't install?** A: We work on it, diagnose it, and quote the repair. Whatever new work we do gets the lifetime workmanship warranty going forward. - **Q: Is there a time limit on warranty claims?** A: No. Lifetime means lifetime, as long as you own the vehicle. Bring it in any time something we did needs attention. ## 5 Signs Your Car Speakers Need an Upgrade URL: https://audioonesd.com/blog/5-signs-your-car-speakers-need-an-upgrade Published: 2026-04-19 | Reading time: 5 min | Category: guides Excerpt: Five clear signs your factory speakers have hit their limit, what each symptom actually means, and a tiered upgrade path matched to budget and daily-driver use. Factory speakers are usually the first part of a car audio system to wear out. After several years of daily heat cycles, sun exposure, humidity, and constant cone movement, the materials lose their original behavior and the sound suffers. Here are the five signs we see most often when customers come in for a [car speaker installation](/services/car-speaker-installation) quote. ## 1. Distortion at moderate volume If the speakers crackle, buzz, or sound fuzzy at half-volume, that's distortion. It can come from a few places, but on stock speakers it's usually a sign the voice coil has been overdriven enough times that it's no longer mechanically clean. The cone is moving, but it's hitting parts of itself that it shouldn't, or the suspension is letting the coil rub the magnet gap. What it sounds like: a sandpaper rasp on vocals, a buzz on bass-heavy tracks, anything that wasn't there when the car was new. What fixes it: replacement speakers in the same factory locations. New cones, new surrounds, new voice coils. ## 2. Weak or one-note bass from the doors Factory front-door speakers are usually 6.5-inch coaxials sized for budget reasons rather than sound. After a few years, the surrounds dry out and the cone loses its ability to move air below 80 Hz. Bass becomes thin and flat. Music feels small. The fix has two paths: - **Speaker swap with sound deadening:** New components or coaxials in the doors, plus a layer of sound deadening on the inner door skin. This tightens up the door's role as a speaker baffle and dramatically improves bass response. We deaden doors as a regular add-on with speaker upgrades. - **Add a subwoofer:** If you want real low-frequency output, the doors can't replace a sub. See our [subwoofer installation](/services/subwoofer-installation) guide for what that looks like. Most customers do both for the best result. ## 3. Harsh highs that hurt at volume If cymbals sound piercing, sibilant vocals get harsh, or you find yourself turning the treble down on the head unit, the factory tweeters are probably the issue. Factory tweeters are usually small, low-resolution, and mounted in poor positions (low in the door, firing at your knees instead of your ears). Component speaker sets fix this. Components separate the tweeter from the woofer, with a passive crossover routing the right frequencies to each driver. We can also relocate tweeters to A-pillar pods or sail-panel pods so they fire at ear level. The difference in clarity is immediate. [Alpine](/brands/alpine) Type-S and Type-R components are go-to picks for customers who care about how detailed the highs are. [Pioneer](/brands/pioneer) and [Kicker](/brands/kicker) make great mid-tier options too. ## 4. Dropouts, intermittent loss of channels, or popping If a speaker cuts in and out, drops one channel, or pops when you hit bumps, that's a wiring or connection issue more often than a blown speaker. Factory door harnesses flex thousands of times over a vehicle's life, and old crimp connections corrode in San Diego's coastal humidity. This is a diagnostic job. Our [audio system repair](/services/audio-system-repair) service traces the signal path, finds the failure point, and fixes the root cause. Sometimes it's a 10-minute connector reseat, sometimes it's a full re-wire. Either way, you don't want to assume the speaker is bad and throw money at parts that won't fix it. ## 5. Aged surrounds and visible cone damage Pop the door panel and look at the speaker. If the foam or rubber surround around the cone is cracked, dried out, flaking, or torn, that speaker is mechanically done. It might still play, but the cone isn't sealing against the surround correctly and you're losing bass and adding distortion. Sun-faded paper cones are another giveaway, the cone material has lost its rigidity. Replacement is the fix. There's no reliable way to re-foam a car speaker like you can a home speaker. ## A tiered upgrade path We spec by budget. Here's how the conversation usually goes: - **Entry tier:** Direct-fit coaxials in the four factory locations. Big improvement over tired stock speakers, no amp required, fits factory wiring. - **Mid tier:** Front-stage component set with separate tweeters, plus rear-fill coaxials. Adds detail and stage. Sound deadening on the front doors as an add-on. - **Reference tier:** Full component set front and rear, an amplifier sized to the components' RMS, and door deadening throughout. This is the setup that makes the car sound like a different vehicle. A free in-shop quote walks you through which tier matches your goals. Stop in at 1610 Palm Ave, call (619) 500-5560, or get a free quote online. Open Mon-Sat 9 AM-7 PM, Sun 9 AM-5 PM. **FAQ:** - **Q: Do I need an amp to upgrade my speakers?** A: Not always. Many aftermarket speakers are designed to run on factory radio power and sound noticeably better than stock. We tell you up front whether amping is worth it for your specific setup. - **Q: Will new speakers fit my factory locations?** A: Most of the time, yes. We carry direct-fit replacements for common factory sizes. For unusual locations we use adapter rings and baffles to make the new speakers fit cleanly. - **Q: How long does a 4-speaker upgrade take?** A: Two to three hours for most daily drivers. Vehicles with hidden speakers, removable dash panels, or factory amp integration can take longer. - **Q: Should I do all four speakers or just the fronts?** A: Front stage matters more for sound quality, that's where vocals and detail live. If budget is tight, do the fronts first with a quality component set. Rear fill can come later. - **Q: Will sound deadening on the doors really make a difference?** A: Yes, especially for bass response and reducing road noise. Door deadening is one of the highest-impact upgrades we add to a speaker job. ## Sealed vs Ported Subwoofer Boxes: Which Should You Pick? URL: https://audioonesd.com/blog/sealed-vs-ported-subwoofer-boxes Published: 2026-04-15 | Reading time: 5 min | Category: buyers-guide Excerpt: A practical guide to sealed and ported subwoofer enclosures, what each does to the sound, how they fit different vehicles, and how to pick the right one for the music you actually listen to. Picking a subwoofer is half the decision. The other half is the box you put it in, and that choice changes how the bass actually sounds more than people expect. Here's how we explain sealed and ported enclosures to customers walking in for a [subwoofer installation](/services/subwoofer-installation) quote. ## How the box shapes the sound A subwoofer's job is to move air. The enclosure controls how that air moves, where it goes, and how the cone behaves on each stroke. Two boxes with the same sub inside can sound completely different. ### Sealed boxes A sealed enclosure is exactly what it sounds like, an airtight box. The sub fights against trapped air on every cone movement, which acts like a spring and pulls the cone back to center. The sound: tight, accurate, fast, and musical. Bass notes start and stop cleanly. You hear the kick drum hit and release, not a smear of one-note bass. Frequency response is smooth and predictable. The trade: less output for the same wattage compared to a ported box. You give up some loudness for cleaner sound. ### Ported boxes A ported box has a tuned port (round or rectangular) that lets the back wave of the cone exit the box at a specific frequency. The port reinforces output at that frequency and makes the system noticeably louder. The sound: loud, deep, and chest-pounding around the port tuning frequency. Big impact on rap, EDM, and anything with sustained low-frequency content. The trade: less precise on quick bass transients. The port adds output where it's tuned, but the cone doesn't stop as fast as it does in a sealed box. ## Which fits your vehicle Box size matters as much as sound character. Sealed boxes are smaller, often half the volume of a ported box for the same sub. That difference matters in real trunks. - **Compact cars and sedans:** Sealed boxes fit easily in most trunks without eating cargo room. A 12-inch sealed box for a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla leaves usable luggage space. - **Trucks (Tacoma, F-150, Silverado, Ram):** Slim under-seat sealed enclosures keep the cab clear. Or a ported behind-seat box for trucks where you want maximum output and don't mind giving up the floor. - **SUVs and crossovers:** Both work. Ported builds shine here because the larger cargo area can absorb the extra box volume without feeling cramped. - **Hatchbacks:** Custom-fab sealed or ported enclosures shaped to fit the cargo well, see our [custom audio installation](/services/custom-audio-installation) page for what we build. ## Match the box to your music This is the question that decides it for most customers: - **Rock, jazz, classical, acoustic, indie, audiobooks:** Sealed. The accuracy preserves the timing of the music. Kick drums hit clean. - **Hip-hop, rap, EDM, dubstep, reggaeton, trap:** Ported. The extra output and depth make these genres feel right. - **Mix of everything:** Sealed is the safer all-rounder. You can always turn the gain up. You can't turn down the boom of a ported box that doesn't suit your daily playlist. If you're commuting through downtown San Diego daily and listen to podcasts and indie rock, a sealed [Kicker](/brands/kicker), [Alpine](/brands/alpine), or [Boss Audio](/brands/boss-audio) sub is the practical pick. If your weekends are about the bass on the I-5 with windows down, ported is more fun. ## Tuning matters too A great box poorly tuned sounds worse than an average box tuned right. Every install we do includes setting the amp's low-pass crossover to match the box, gain matching to the sub's RMS rating, and a phase check between the sub and front-stage speakers. That's the difference between bass you feel and bass that rattles the dash apart. For ported boxes, port tuning frequency is set when the box is built (around 32-35 Hz for daily SQ, lower for SPL builds). Custom-fab boxes let us pick the exact tuning your sub model wants. ## How long the install takes A pre-fab sealed or ported box with a single sub and amp is usually a 3 to 4 hour install. A custom-fab box matched to your specific trunk takes a day or two depending on complexity, with cure time on adhesives and finish work. Stop in at 1610 Palm Ave, call (619) 500-5560, or get a free quote online. Open Mon-Sat 9 AM-7 PM, Sun 9 AM-5 PM. **FAQ:** - **Q: Which box hits harder, sealed or ported?** A: Ported is louder, especially around its tuning frequency. Sealed is tighter and more accurate. If raw output is the goal, ported wins. If musical accuracy is the goal, sealed wins. - **Q: Can I get both, accuracy and loudness?** A: Yes, a properly built ported box with a quality sub and right tuning gets close to both. Or a sealed box with a higher-wattage amp gets you loud-enough output with sealed precision. - **Q: Does box volume really matter?** A: Yes, a lot. Subs are designed for specific air volumes. A 12-inch sub in a too-small box sounds choked. A custom-built box matched to the sub spec sounds the way the manufacturer intended. - **Q: Will a ported box rattle my car?** A: Not when it's tuned correctly. We set crossovers and gains during install to keep panel rattles out of the equation. Some sound deadening on the trunk lid helps too. - **Q: Can I switch from sealed to ported later?** A: Yes. The sub itself can move between boxes, though most subs are spec'd to perform best in one type. We can swap boxes anytime if you change your mind on sound. ## Apple CarPlay vs Android Auto: Which Is Right For Your Vehicle? URL: https://audioonesd.com/blog/apple-carplay-vs-android-auto Published: 2026-04-12 | Reading time: 6 min | Category: buyers-guide Excerpt: A side-by-side look at Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, what each does well, the wired vs wireless question, and which one fits your phone and your daily commute. If you're deciding between Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the short version is this: pick the one that matches your phone. Both platforms have matured to the point where the day-to-day experience is excellent on either side, and the differences come down to a handful of features and how each one handles wireless. Here's the breakdown we walk customers through at the counter. ## What each platform actually does Both CarPlay and Android Auto put your phone's apps onto the car's screen, controlled by touch, voice, or steering-wheel buttons. Maps, music, podcasts, calls, texts, weather, calendar reminders, and voice assistants all run from your phone but display on the dash. The phone stays in your pocket or in a USB-C holder. ### Apple CarPlay CarPlay's core apps are Apple Maps, Apple Music, Messages, Podcasts, Phone, and Calendar. Spotify, Waze, Google Maps, Audible, and most major audio apps run inside CarPlay too. Siri handles voice. The interface is consistent across vehicles, so jumping between a rental and your daily car feels the same. ### Android Auto Android Auto leans on Google Maps and Google Assistant, and they're the strongest pair on the platform. Spotify, YouTube Music, Audible, WhatsApp, and the major messaging apps all integrate. Voice replies to texts work cleanly through Assistant. The interface is slightly more customizable, with a launcher you can rearrange. ## Wired vs wireless Older head units required a physical USB cable for both platforms. Modern aftermarket units we install include wireless support out of the box: pair the phone once over Bluetooth, and from then on the car connects automatically when you start the engine. The phone stays in your pocket and charges on a wireless pad if you want. A few things worth knowing about wireless: - The first pairing takes about a minute. After that it's automatic. - Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto run over a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection between the phone and the head unit. That's why a wired-only head unit can't be upgraded to wireless with a software update, the Wi-Fi radio has to be in the unit. - If you stream high-bitrate music, wireless still uses your phone's cellular data the same way wired does. Plug in for charging and use wireless for connection if your phone runs hot. ## Vehicle compatibility We retrofit CarPlay and Android Auto three ways: 1. **Aftermarket touchscreen.** Drops into the dash on any 2010+ vehicle. Brands we install regularly include [Kenwood](/brands/kenwood), [Pioneer](/brands/pioneer), [Sony](/brands/sony), and [Alpine](/brands/alpine). This is the most flexible path and unlocks the full feature set. 2. **Stock-look OEM-fit head unit.** Replaces the factory radio while keeping the dash appearance original. Great for trucks and luxury sedans where the factory dash is worth preserving. 3. **Integration module on the factory radio.** On many 2014+ Toyota, Honda, Ford, GM, Hyundai, and Mazda vehicles, we add wireless CarPlay and Android Auto without changing the dash at all. Fully reversible. See our [factory radio upgrade](/services/factory-radio-upgrade) page for what's possible. If you're not sure what fits your year/make/model, call with the details and we'll confirm the path that works. ## Which features actually matter The differences come down to ecosystem fit: - iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, AirPlay, iCloud calendar: CarPlay is the natural choice. - Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, Google Maps loyalty, Google Calendar, YouTube Music: Android Auto fits better. - Mixed-phone household: any modern head unit we install supports both, and the unit will switch between platforms based on which phone it sees first. For navigation, both Google Maps and Waze run inside CarPlay now, so you don't lose Google's traffic data by going Apple. For music, Apple Music and Spotify run on either side. ## Booking the install Most CarPlay and Android Auto installs take 1 to 2 hours. We do the setup, pair your phone, walk you through the first drive, and verify steering-wheel controls and backup camera passthrough work before you leave. Stop in at 1610 Palm Ave, call (619) 500-5560, or get a free quote online. Open Mon-Sat 9 AM-7 PM, Sun 9 AM-5 PM. **FAQ:** - **Q: Do I need to pick one or the other when buying a head unit?** A: No. Modern aftermarket head units we install support both CarPlay and Android Auto. The unit detects which phone is connected and loads the right interface. - **Q: Can I add wireless CarPlay to my factory radio?** A: On many 2014 and newer vehicles, yes, through an integration module that keeps the factory radio in place. We confirm compatibility from your year/make/model when you call. - **Q: Will my steering-wheel buttons still work?** A: Yes. We use a steering-wheel-control interface during install so volume, track skip, voice, and call buttons all stay functional. - **Q: Does wireless drain my phone faster?** A: A little, since the Wi-Fi radio is active. Most people pair wirelessly for the connection and plug into USB-C for charging. Best of both worlds. - **Q: What if I switch from iPhone to Android later?** A: Same head unit. Just pair the new phone in the Bluetooth menu and it will load Android Auto instead of CarPlay automatically. ## How Long Does Car Stereo Installation Take? URL: https://audioonesd.com/blog/how-long-does-car-stereo-installation-take Published: 2026-04-08 | Reading time: 5 min | Category: guides Excerpt: A realistic look at how long different car audio installs actually take, from a quick head-unit swap to a full custom build, plus what makes some vehicles longer than others. Most people booking an install want a straight answer: how long am I going to be without the car? The honest answer depends on the work, the vehicle, and what we find once the dash is open. Here's a practical breakdown based on what we see day in and day out at the shop. ## Typical install times by service These windows assume a daily-driver vehicle in good condition with no surprise wiring issues. We give you a tighter estimate when you book. - Head unit swap with [car stereo installation](/services/car-stereo-installation): 1 to 3 hours - Wireless [Apple CarPlay or Android Auto](/services/apple-carplay-android-auto) retrofit: 1 to 2 hours - 4-speaker upgrade through [car speaker installation](/services/car-speaker-installation): 2 to 3 hours - Sub-and-amp combo through [subwoofer installation](/services/subwoofer-installation): 3 to 4 hours - Backup camera with factory display integration: about 1.5 hours - Dashcam, front only, hardwired: about 1 hour - Full [custom audio installation](/services/custom-audio-installation) with custom enclosure: 1 to 3 days A common mistake is to assume the head unit drop-in is the slow part. Usually it's the wiring behind the dash that determines the schedule. ## What actually affects the time ### Vehicle and dash type Older Hondas and Toyotas tend to come apart fast, factory plastic clips that pop off cleanly, simple harness paths, and standardized DIN openings. Newer vehicles with integrated screens, climate controls baked into the radio assembly, or fiber-optic premium audio systems take longer because the techs are working around features that need to keep working when the new gear is in. Trucks like the Ford F-150 and Toyota Tacoma sit in the middle, mostly straightforward, with model-year quirks. ### Integration depth A single-DIN head unit going into a 2008 sedan is a different job than a 9-inch floating display going into a 2019 truck with steering-wheel controls, factory backup camera, factory amplifier, and SiriusXM. Each retained feature adds an interface module, a wiring step, and verification time. We test each retained feature before you drive off, no exceptions. ### Custom fabrication Anything where MDF is being cut, fiberglass is being laid up, or trim panels are being modified is a multi-day job. The reason is straightforward, glue, paint, and resin all need cure time, and rushing any of those steps shows up later as buzzing panels or peeling vinyl. If you're commuting through Mission Valley or down the I-5 daily and need the car back same-day, we'll suggest a pre-fab enclosure for the first round and book a custom build for a weekend you don't need the vehicle. ### Add-ons that often join the install Once the dash is open, customers often add a backup camera, dashcam wire-in, sound deadening on the front doors, or a [factory radio upgrade](/services/factory-radio-upgrade) module. Bundling these into one appointment saves time overall but does extend the day-of window. Mention any add-ons when you book so we can schedule realistically. ## How to plan your appointment We're open Mon-Sat 9 AM-7 PM and Sun 9 AM-5 PM. For most single-service installs, dropping the vehicle in the morning means picking it up the same afternoon. For combo installs (head unit plus speakers plus sub) or anything custom, plan to leave the vehicle for the day or come back the next morning. Bring the vehicle with at least a quarter tank, an empty trunk if a sub is going in, and the key fob (especially for push-to-start models that need a programming step). Walk-ins are welcome for quick consults and quotes. For the install itself, booking ahead lets us pre-order any vehicle-specific harnesses or dash kits so the work starts the moment you arrive. Stop in at 1610 Palm Ave, call (619) 500-5560, or get a free quote online. Open Mon-Sat 9 AM-7 PM, Sun 9 AM-5 PM. **FAQ:** - **Q: Can you do a same-day install?** A: Most single-service installs (head unit, speakers, backup camera, dashcam) finish same-day if you drop off in the morning. Combo and custom builds usually need the vehicle for the full day or longer. - **Q: Do I need an appointment?** A: Walk-in quotes are welcome any time. For the install itself we recommend booking ahead so we can have your vehicle-specific dash kit and T-harness in stock when you arrive. - **Q: What should I bring to my appointment?** A: Your key fob, the vehicle with at least a quarter tank, and an empty trunk if a subwoofer is part of the work. If you bought any gear elsewhere, bring it with the original boxes and accessories. - **Q: Why does my friend's install take less time than mine?** A: Vehicle, dash type, and retained features are the three big variables. A 2010 Civic head unit swap is faster than the same head unit going into a 2020 truck with factory amp and steering-wheel controls. - **Q: Will the install take longer if I bring my own gear?** A: Not usually. We install customer-supplied gear all the time. Bring everything in original packaging so we can verify the parts before opening anything up. --- # Contact - Phone: (619) 500-5560 - Address: 1610 Palm Ave, San Diego, CA 92154 - Hours: Mon–Sat 9 AM – 7 PM, Sun 9 AM – 5 PM - Quote form: https://audioonesd.com/contact - Reviews: https://audioonesd.com/reviews - Google Maps: https://www.google.com/maps?cid=553618271829808741 - Facebook: https://facebook.com/704165919455830 - Instagram: https://instagram.com/audioonesd
